Otago Fish & Game Council Beginner Adults Fishing Class 2026 - Cromwell

Otago Fish & Game will run a free adult beginner fishing class in Cromwell before the start of the 2026/27 fishing season.

Topics will include freshwater sports fish species, legal methods, rods, lures, bait, knots, where to go fishing, licences, regulations, and more. 

Each participant will attend one evening theory class and a day-time practical fishing session.

Pre-registration is required (maximum of 12 people per class). Enrol before 27 August 2026.

Adult classes are for ages 18 and above, giving you the skills to teach our tamariki.

Thursday 3 September - Theory Class - Cromwell

6.30pm – 8.30pm.          

CROMWELL

Otago Fish & Game Council field base, 2 Ree Crescent, Cromwell

Saturday 5 September - Practical Fishing Session - Cromwell

10am - noon

Fishing location near Cromwell to be advised.

* Field trip participants must first attend the theory class. *

All fishing equipment (rods and lures) will be provided.
